Why didn't they work? Was it a clearance issue? Maybe the back rest cushion get's in the way of the seat bottom?
I'm thinking about doing the same thing.

Multiple issues but the big one was these hinges cannot be mounted all the way to the rear of the seat so when I swing up the cushion would hit the seat base. Plus the walls where they would mount are not perpendicular to the back so you would have to build a wedge mount.

The seats need to slide out before they lift up. I was trying to come up with something for my cooler compartment on my t22. the best way I could possibly see doing it would be to have it flip up long ways toward the driver seat. Unfortunately the way the upholstery is it kinda locks the cushions in place. I'm interested to see what other come up with

Once I get my boat back from the dealer I'm going to try something.. I might be able to make them work.

I stumbled upon this website that has several types of seat hinges. This one slides out before it flips up.

Those look nice but the 90 degree base is not ideal...

Anything more on this? Any idea where Malibu sources their hinges? What about just using a piano hinge on the front edge?

You can offset the 90 by mounting the hardware at a different angle.
