Question. Im going to be replacing my single pair of Icons with a pair of Rev 10's. I have an Htx 2 that is currently powering those Icons. My plan was to move that Amp to the in boats and buy something else for the Revs. Id rather not spend north of 500 for tower amp. Im seeing Rockford amps that say "350 watts @ 2ohms" or "200 @ 4ohms". Is there a benefit to running them at 2 ohms and if so how would I do that. Is there a setting on the amp? I dont see any switches on my htx2 i currently have. The other question, that Htx2 that i want to run my in boats on, can i run four in boats on that 2 channel amp? Im assuming i can just use one channel for each side, and daisy chain them together, if thats even the right terminology. I dont know much about stereo stuff, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The ohm rating is just that.. a rating. You can only change the ohm load with a speaker so if you have a 4ohm speaker the amp will see a 4 ohm load (2 4 ohm speakers on the same channel you will see 2ohm). So to answer your question with a 4ohm rev10 you will only see 200 watts per speaker with a amp rated at 200 watts at 4 ohms.

Also let me add my 2 cents... the amp is every bit as important as the speaker if not more important. Under driving a tower will kill performance and likely cause speaker failure prematurity.

I understand. I plan to install the wetsounds head unit and I'd like to do the rev6 in boats too. I'm not trying to go crazy here but I fear that ship might be leaving port. How much for the sd2?

I would do 550 shipped for it.. I run a SD2 / SD4 / SD6 in my boat now and love them. The only reason I'm selling the sd2 is i screwed up and ordered it for the towers not realizing I need the sd4 for the 410s. My buddy runs the icon 8s off an sd2 and they sound impressive.

Honestly I would pick up the older WS 6.5 (the nicer ones not the cheap ones) for 1/2 The price of the revos, according the the guy I spoke with at WS he said you will never hear the difference between the two. And a reminder the amp is every bit as important as the speaker.

I went with a 278 SSC (cuddy) from Monterey... build quality and vinyl is unmatched... also, I think they own a few shop vacs at Monterey, unlike Malibu/Axis... in fact, I saw them in use when I toured the Monterey factory this summer. :-) zero wrenches, wires, build trash, or issues at delivery... what a relief for once.

You can see the Icon 8's in these photos; will let them go cheap... will have swivel clamps. I turned them on to make certain the amp and fusion head units worked; they are already off the boat.
