Post subject:  Board Repair Tips?

Ronix Koal Fish is an awesome board, but somewhat delicate when it comes to dings. This is what I'm doing, hoping someone with repair(s) experience can give me some tips before I start cutting fiberglass on a $600 board.

Youtube for background videos and google search led me to Solarez. Wanting to see if I can mix some color (black) before applying. Saw some comments for using bondo product, but have decided against. Picked up some mylar pieces from the florist gal at the store.

Dings will be fairly straight forward. Sand, tape, apply, shape with mylar, cook in sun for about a minute, final shape/sand, then cook for 3-5 minutes to complete. Will be clear unless I figure out the pigment.

Nose cracks. From what I can tell, best repair is to cut out the cracked glass and fill the void with new Solarez glass. Black tip-clear product...hmm.

Picked up a spare CWB board-for beginners and use while the Fish is out of it. Comes with a foamy nose strip. Once the glass is fixed, going to find some black foamy material, cut my own nose piece and glue it on to the fish.

So that's the plan...any suggestions?

Thanks

My brother shapes all my glassed boards and I throw a longboard nose guard from Surfco Hawaii on my boards. Would prolly work better than gluing foam on.

I was looking at those nose caps, ended up buying a deck pad that I cut to fit. Came out okay and frankly the nose needed something to cover up my Franken-patch repair. Works-new/good glass and no cracks, just not able to quit my day job!

thanks for the suggestion!

What did you end up doing for this? I have a couple chunks taken out on the tip and also a little crack and dent on the top part of the board.

This sucks, because the board is literally two weeks old.
