Here are some pics of the subwoofer box I built to fit under the helm. I originally designed as a sealed box with approximately 1.0 cu ft of volume. I was very unhappy with the performance and after speaking with a friend that installs lots of marine stereo equipment, he convinced me to try a 1.5 cu ft ported design. I am glad I listened to him and made the changes as it was a night and day difference. I am very happy with the finished product.

Thanks for sharing. Im about to do the same project. Any dimensions and pics of the box? Do you have a heater in there to deal with? Cant believe its been 20+ years since I built a sub box and thinking about doing it again...

I traced the original footwell panel to make the front panel. I'll have to look and see if I kept any of the information on the size of the box. To get the 1.5 cu ft box to fit I did change out the steering cable to a longer cable. I did not have a heater to deal with. I highly recommend the upgrade to move the subwoofer out of the storage compartment.

Here is mine, JL 12w3v3-4 in a 1.125 spec box. Boat is a 2016 A20 with heater so I couldn't really go with anything bigger. I was able to keep my 3rd heater vent down in the right hand corner. Pushing 300 watts to it and it sounds pretty good.Image

Looks great and I love the placement of the heater hose move. Did you relocate from the driver stationary port?

Yes, the stock placement was down firing from the top of the black cubby. The hose was long enough to place the vent in that bottom right hand corner.
