Post subject:  Hinges for under-seat storage?

Has anyone installed hinges for easier access to the under seat storage? I don't like having to lift the awkward cushion all the way out.

Mastercraft has hinges that I think could work:

But even better would be a hinge that could attach to the crossbars (instead of attaching to the ends).

Thoughts? Solutions?

It's an awesome idea/project but are the Axis cushions capable or shaped to work with a hinge?

I feel like the rear most part of the seat (as seen when facing it the way you would open it) would bind into the back cushion as you lifted past about 30 degrees. It would be nice, but I think AJ is right. There simply isn't enough room due to their design.

I've seen some boat with hinges on the front edge so it flips up toward you. Which seems like it'd make it harder to access a compartment but what do I know. I personally like no hinges as I remove the seats every time to wipe it down and let everything air dry.

I think the mastercraft ones move the cushion forward while it hinges to get it away from the back cushion. This has been on my to do list but simply have not had time.

Man... keep us posted.... was super awesome feature on my LSV!

I'll even pay a finders fee if it works! :-)

I don't think this will work on the A24 cooler cushion since a small part of that cushion slides under a side cushion a little bit.

My hope is to prove you wrong :) but I agree it will be the one thing that will make it hard. The hinges I ordered appear to move "forward" and they swing up but hard to tell until they get here.
