Post subject:  LED with SurfGate

I'm wanting to install a LED light bar on my tower that blinks when the surfgate switch's from side to side. Has anyone done this? It was on the 15' Wakesetter I used last year. I would also like to have the toggle on the dash for night surfing. I can easily install the light and toggle switch but I'm unsure about the surfgate part. I know it can be done as it is a factory option. I also need some ideas on where to install it with the rev 410's and z5 rack.Image

Did it blink when the switch was flipped or when the actuator opened?

When the surf gate knob was switched on the rotary knob on the Malibu.

I think the axis switch should work the same.

I would say malibu probably tapped the lights into the gate actuator so once the voltage transfers it kicks on the light at the same time

You could just put a blinker relay with a defined delay on the surfgate switch. That way when it registers the voltage hit from the toggle switch the relay is triggered. The 15 Bu I was on had three blinks before the actuator was activated. This would do the same thing. If you did it off the actuator and not the switch, you would have it activate everytime you start surfing as the gates will be deployed at every start... I would start looking at the switch.

What about using one of these relays: http://www.amazon.com/Newer-Version-Mul ... PEY6PZCP7F

(instructions here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yu5jk3d41o6rl ... 4.pdf?dl=0)

I guess the question is when and how the surf left/surf right switch sends a positive signal to the SG brain box.... are there positive leads for right and for left? Could you tap those positive leads with diodes to prevent backfeeding the other positive lead and then join them together into the signal input of the relay? Then set, say, a 3 second delay then three second energized period, so you'd flip switch, wait three seconds, then light would come on (or horn would sound, or whatevs) for three seconds?

Not an electrician but I like puzzles.

I've got an idea for sg transfer horn/light. parts are on the way. Stay tuned for a couple of weeks and hopefully I can get it working.
