PeterMcRae wrote: Hi there , l have a 2011 a22 & have spent the last 12 months retro fitting surf gates . Live in Melbourne Australia , had to order lenco 102 actuators from USA , Boat dealer would not sell any parts at all without HIN numbers to match the surf gate year model 2014. Started by cutting down swim platform ,made surf gate out of marine ply then rapped them with carbon fibre . Put 2 extra layers of fibre glass inside rear of hull . Tried to order the hinges from dealer & no hope, made hinges out of blocks of alloy in two parts & bolts for hinge points. Will try & down load some photos , need daughters help. Looking forward to the photos. I'm curious if the rear of the hull even changed, some are reporting that Malibu was just saying it did but then changed nothing. |

Put 2 extra layers of glass around actuator & hinge points. when drilling into hull found it to be over 3/4 inch thick ,had to order longer button head bolts. Do not believe that the hull is any different all the way up to 2015 for A22 .

Peter, this is looking like DIY project of the year. racer3822 wrote: Looking forward to the photos. People throw trim tabs on boats all the time and I would think those would have higher pressure concerns due to them being lower in the water and used at higher speeds. |
