I cannot decide on which tower speakers will best suit our needs. I was set on purchasing the XM 7's until I heard 2 x sets of them the other day, they are ear peircing and way to loud for my liking and my familys.
I just want them loud enough so we can hear them up to 80 ft back but dont wont to hurt peoples ears in the boat. I am still deaf. haha.
I am tossing up between 2 x pair of Exile SXT65Q, Kicker 6500.2 and Rev 8's. I have not heard any of these speakers as their is no dealer around my area so I am relying on peoples experiences.
I had a pair of Aerial polk dbs on my last boat and I was wrapped with them but want a something a little better this time. Please Help !!!!

Have you looked at Xm9s they sound great at 80feet. The sxts are for surfing I think they are a domes tweeter vs hlcd so hearing them at 80 back isn't going to happen. I can't speak to the rev 8s.

I've got a pair of Rev 8s on my tower and they sound great at 80ft and what I like is that they don't sound harsh up close. They do require a bit of power to push em. Not really a bad thing at all just something to consider in your setup.

Thanks for your reply guys, I have just found out that their are no Rev8's left in Australia at any dealer. This place sucks for retail. I an waiting on the dealer to give me a price in the Rev10's but will these be to big. I don't want to hurt my passengers ears when its cranked up like ghetto xm7's. I don't like them at all.

I got a sweet deal on a clearanced out pro 485 and a set of pro 80's.. They sound amazing. I was skeptical to pay that much for tower speakers but it was well worth it. All as I can say is WOW! when I first heard them. The head room is fine for me. I'm about 5' 9" and I can walk around without having to duck. I know the 10's will be a little bigger. I'll try to post some pics later.

Here is a pic of my Pro 485 and a set of Pro 80's.. You might be able to find them on clearance like I did. I just bought these from Car Toys and they hooked me up.

Did they do it in a Best Buy bay? Best Buy works with them on the West Coast.
