Has anyone on her ever had the 3m film protection installed on their Axis? I am looking to have this done and want to see if it is worth the cost. Any insight would be appreciated.

Since wakeboats do not have paint I'm assuming you're trying to protect the gelcoat. I've never heard anyone wrapping their boat with 3M film. Honestly, I don't know what the point would be. What are you trying to achieve and what makes you think it's necessary? I've put 3M on my trailer fenders and cross beams to protect from rocks/pebbles while towing and I also use a Rocktamer on my truck's receiver.

I have 3m on the back of the boat to protect it from geating beat up by boards. I ordered it through my dealer. It covers very well and is not noticeable unless you are looking for it. I figured it would help keep down the scratches from people putting boards on, or surfing when a rider falls backward and the board hits the back of the boat

Transom and platform I forgot about but yes that's a good idea if you wakeboard a lot. No one will care about your boat as much as you do so it's a good preventative measure. I did 3M on Moomba and Supras on the transom (easy to ding up the transom on those boats) but haven't on any of my Axis yet due to the shape of the transom and platform. I might look into it as well and see how bad the 3M can be noticed. Maybe not so much with a metal flake platform?

This is why I asked.

That damage was from my trailer carpet

Holy crap Josh, that's pretty bad. Are you power loading your boat onto the trailer by chance? I'm on my 2nd Axis and never had that issue at all. Even my black Axis never got those bunk marks

Here are pictures of the trailer. The shop owner told me it looks like the boat fin probably caught on the trailer which made sense to me. Had a time I didn't make it back to the ramp before a big Oklahoma storm came through loaded the boat with a crazy cross wind which caused me to come in crooked.

I also did mean gelcoat just put paint in ther because that is what 3m calls the product, PPF paint protection film.

I power unloaded it once but didn't have a choice. I used a ramp that had a pot hole but you couldn't see it till the trailer dropped into it. I couldn't pull the trailer at all with it bottomed out in the hole. Screwed up my fender pretty bad. Talked about cussing up a storm when I went to see what had happened also scared the crap out of me when it made the load thud thought I had went off the ramp.

Hope the shop uses a quality carpet when recovering the bunks. Are you going to repair the scratch marks or just cover them with the 3M?
