I don't use it much but I have a 18 pound and it seams to work fine in the river.

What sort of water would you be anchoring in (rock / sand / deep / shallow / shore)?

The lakes in my area are mostly mud/sandy bottoms and I would be anchoring in less than 15 ft of water.

+1, also is it high traffic, is there a current? (sp)

I use a 25lbs one and i drift like crazy if there is wind or rollers. i have muddy bottom, i was told a box anchor are the best for my conditions but they are expensive

Get the small box anchor from Slide Anchor. Hands down best anchor made. It'll hold on all bottoms especially soft bottoms. Just make sure you use a 2:1 rope to depth ratio as with any anchor (10 feet deep = 20 feet of rope out) for max hold. In light winds the small box anchor can hold 3 wakeboats and in moderate winds it can hold 2 boats.

I've always wondered what conditions the baby anchor could still hold solid in with a full-size wakeboat. I'm sure it could hold in light winds or a cove situations. I've used my small box anchor in some 20-30mph winds at a sandy peninsula exposed to the wind and it held all day. I don't see why a baby anchor couldn't hold in shallow water with light current since rivers are usually butter and out of the wind anyways. Just the other day I used my small anchor in 30 feet of water and didn't feed out all the 50ft of rope so it didn't have the desired 2:1 and it still held in 10-15mph winds.

I forgot to add...I used my small box anchor at a 4-6 foot deep open water sandbar last weekend in 10-15mph steady winds and it held my A22 and a 26' skater type tunnel boat (brandnew boat and owner didn't have an anchor).

I have a box anchor & while its kinda cumbersome & heavy you dont have to ever worry about drifting or not getting it set correctly like a danforth. I fold mine up & put in the bag after every use so its kinda a pain in the butt I never have even thought about drifting even in heavy winds. A mushroom anchor would be a joke in our lake.
