I have been reading about carbon monoxide on inboard boats and have found out there is a very large amount at the platform. Has anyone ever tried a fresh air exhaust system they say it cuts down carbon monoxide by 90%. It cost about $500. Also cuts engine nosie by 50%.

I've heard nothing but good things about them. I used to have a friend that had one on an old 210. It was a lot quieter.

I've got one on mine. Had one on my family's moomba as well. They are awesome. No carbon monoxide fumes while surfing and considerably quiets the engine noise.

Any change in wake shape for boarding/surf? Negatives?

None at all. Wish I'd taken some before and after pics to show that but there are some on the fresh air exhaust web site. It truly is an upgrade that's well worth the cost.

$500 is about 1/2 what I thought they used to cost. Before owning the AXIS, I had seriously considered the FAE a must have. When shopping for the AXIS, CATs were on my (wife's) must have list for same reason. But the AXIS that were ended up with has neither and I have never smelled any CO while surfing on this boat. I actually have only ever smelled it when standing on the swim deck bent over lacing up my wakeboard.

The Malibu VLX with the 383 motor that we used to ride was MUCH worse. So was the Mastercraft that I have surfed behind. In both of those boat having the walk though windshield open helped a little. Not sure why the AXIS is so much better, but add it to the list of reasons I love it!

Agreed. The axis definitely has noticeably less CO fumes than some other boats I've surfed behind. My family's moomba was almost nauseating. I wasn't going to put the FAE on my axis at first until a few of us got bad headaches after consecutive long days of only surfing. After installing it, no more headaches. My 6 and 8 year olds both surf so it was a no brainer for me. Anyway I could lower their exposure was worth it. All boats definitely create a pocket of CO behind the boat at lower speeds (station wagon effect) but keeping the center window open is a great idea.

I got mine from www.freshairexhaust.com
The owner, Larry Mann, was easy to work with. I believe he still offers 1/2 payment down and then interest free monthly payments thereafter.
