I towed mine from the dealers to the lake, about 1 hr drive on interstate. Well, when I hit 65 mph, the cover blew off. It took me a little while to notice and the bimini frayed a little and broke a buckle. The dealer was meeting me up at the lake so I showed him right away. They said nothing about removing it when I drove out of the shop. I'm going today to pick up a replacement that they had custom made - hope it is good.

I'm in the works of planning a trip to a lake that is about 2 hours away. I had in mind that I would be dropping the tower for the first time on it and throwing the cover on it for the long tow. Any guys who tow long distances have any suggestions? I just didn't think the 485s would be too aerodynamic going down the interstate (plus bugs).

My dealer is 3hrs away. I've towed it 3 times at that distance with the tower up (with 485s) and the cover on. Never had a problem. I just strapped the bimini in it's boot and strapped it to the tower. It never budged.

i have towed 3 hours a few times with cover on and tower up. no problems, I tighten the sh*t out of it though. I never go above 60mph though

I recently moved (about 1900 miles) and towed my old boat with the cover on. What a mistake. The cover got small rips in a couple of places where it rubbed the windshield frame and left lots of marks in the gel. You may be ok with short trips now and then but I would never do it again long distance. Basically I got the effect of what happens over many short trips all crammed into a three day period. Yes you can do it, but there are costs.
