Hey guys,
Just wondering if anybody has explored the option of a second alternator or a high output alternator?

I thought about it when doing my stereo. I already need multiple batteries for sitting at cove at the end of the day listening to stereo. The larger alt will charge the batteries much quicker and take some load off, but I'd like to charge the batteries to 100% after putting boat up at storage, so I went with shore charger.

Agreed,

Much cheaper and easier.

Equipment wise AND $s/gallon vs $s/watt. Hydro/Nuke/wind/coal/ng electricity wins over make your own everytime unless you have a diesel gennie running off free veggie oil. Both could be extra ballast!!
