Iā€™m looking to purchase a new ā€˜20 A24. My understanding is that starting in 2018 the A24 comes with a 17ā€ prop. The build sheet for this boat shows the prop is a 16.5 x 14 3537. Should I be at all concerned about this and should I request the dealer get a 17ā€ prop instead? TIA

We have a '19 A24 (409 motor) and have the 17" x 14" prop (Acme 2753 or 2755 can't remember which). We are 950' above sea level and run 750s in the rear, full plug n play plus I have another 500 lbs of steel sprinkled in the boat. Auto set wedge is always in use, usually 4, and run 11 mph for surf and the thing is a monster. Prop specific I am not sure how a half of an inch will change it all that much. What I can say is going from the 15.5" and 350 motor in our 2016 A20 to the 17" is a huge difference. The torque with the motor and the tranny ratio plus the 17" is awesome. Plenty of power to surf obviously and more than enough to wake board at 24 mph. I rely on the folks here plus I use the wakemakers prop finder to help out. There are a couple guys there that are prop genius who can help out if you call it. Depending on all the factors for a prop (elevation, weight, ballast, crew, activity, etc. etc etc) they have the Acme 2561, 3077 or 2755 - all are 17s - as the recommended. I would be more concerned with the pitch which is what gets to you what you ultimately want to do. Crazy weight & or elevation and all you want to do is surf and go 11 mph - go with the 2755. Just want a good overall prop and won't have crazy weight go 3077.

The 3537 has a 14" pitch so it is a high torque prop. To me might as well get the extra 1/2" and jump to 2755. Nominal extra cost between the two.

Either way the A24 is amazing!!

@Walter17 Thanks for the info. Since I posted we still haven't really been out and been able to weight the boat and test out the performance of the boat with the prop that came from the manufacturer. What I can say is that I was informed by Malibu via the dealer that they decided a 16.5" prop was best suited to the '20 A24 with the M5 engine and heavy weight and/or high altitude. I'm looking forward to getting out and getting the new boat dialed in and just going to work with the prop I've got for now. If something happens and I have to get another prop (I certainly hope not!) then I might try a different one but for now I'm just going to run what I've got.
