All this talk and not one mention of which prop hes running? I bet hes running too much pitch. I had that issue in my a20. Boat came with a 2277 and it wouldnt move a fully weighted boat. Had to go to a 2249. Now i can surf all day with 750’s in the rear, a 400 bow bag, and 500 pounds in lead.
He says he is running 4k rpms... and no now weight..

So it looks like it was due to too much weight in the back. Took it out with no weight and cruise control is working just fine. Wasn't out long so didn't take the time to fill the ballasts.

In terms of prop, it's on the stock prop, but that's to the extent of what I know. No idea which prop it is.

Stock prop is a Acme 2249 15x14.25. If your rear bags fill all the way to the top of the sun pad covers they are the flyhigh 750's if you still have a about 5" of space for jackets and ropes they are the 550's. If you are running that much weight in the rear without enough bow weight you are most likely burying your surf gates which will make your surf wave suffer.

Then I have 550's for the bags. Thanks for the tip! I usually don't fill both bags 100%. One will be 100% and the other 50-75% filled. I think the issue was the fact that I usually only have one extra person inside the boat while surfing and this time there was 4 people inside the back of the boat at the time. I'll definitely fill the bow next time.

Thanks everybody.

What board is that? You make it look effortless.

Post subject:  Add More Throttle

The way the cruise works on boats is to reduce the amount the throttle you have set (this is backwards from cars). So the cruise cannot give push the throttle forward. When it is at a point where it is not backing off at all and still not at speed, it will ask for more throttle. It is not smart enough to give a better message like "I am dying here, get a new prop with less pitch", or "throw a couple of passengers overboard to allow me to hold speed".

This is important to understand because you want the throttle to be just a little above where it needs to be so the speed control will hold steady without hunting.

I always put the throttle all the way to 100 percent...

Check Prop was my guess. If you do not have a good torque prop you will have issues. Get the number off the prop and we can see if that is a problem.

with the 6.0 in the 18s I really disagree -- more prop will give you more RPMs but it won't push a mis-weighted (unbalanced) boat through the water any faster. OP says he's already at 4k rpms. Read the pcm/crusader manual.... MAX cruising rpms are 4200.
