Post subject:  Ballast filling on it's own

Hey guys, was out earlier this week and filled the rear ballast to lower the platform some for swimming. I shut it off and notice we're leaning a little port, so I drain some, then a little later we're leaning port again. I hit the drain and water starts coming out and it just keeps coming. Shut it off and lo and behold we start leaning again so I drain it more. At this point I realize the ballast tank is just filling on it's own. I shut off the thru-hull valve and drain it out and it doesn't fill again.

Any thoughts on what to check? It was dark by the time I realized it so didn't mess with it last night but I'm going out tomorrow.

Even though you shut the fill pump off are you sure it's actually shutting off? Light could be off on the switch but not cutting power to the pump.

My PnP bow bag has done this for some time. Dealer re-plumbed the bag and it still fills over the course of the day. I did a quick search for a 3/4” shut off valve I could put on the inlet side and didn’t find one.

Did you turn the key on or have the boat running, start the pump, then shut the key off thinking this will turn off the pump? It turns the lights off but not the pumps. They will run longer. How long? I have not tested.

I actually took the transmission cover off and touched the pump and didn't feel it running. I was filling the pump with the key off, I know it runs off the battery power switch being on.
