Hey all! New to the forum and looking for some help! I am in the market for a new boat! Just sold my 2006 Malibu 21LSV with the diamond hull. It was a great boat and when loaded down threw a great wake! I've wanted a Axis for a couple years now and it's time. My question is.. Is there a huge difference in the performance of the A22 with the new hull that came out in 2015? I mostly wakeboard and am more concerned about the difference in the between say a 2013 hull and the newer hull. If there's not a huge difference in the boat I might save some $ and go for a 2013 as there is a nice in close to me. There is also a 2015 but it's about 15k more hint my dilemma. Thanks in advance!

My friend has 2014 A22. I have a 2017 A22. Other than that, the boats are similarly equipped. We boat together all summer long. He is now selling his boat because the wake is better with the newer hull. Don’t get me wrong, the older hull surfs great. The newer hull is better and you can really tell the difference if you have a chance to compare them. Make sure you get surf gate no matter what hull you go with. That 2013 may not have it.

Sorry I cant chime in on the new hull, but I think the OP is looking for advice on the wake not the wave.

No worries! Yes don't surf much at all. Just looking for performance and wake comparisons.

We have been looking for over a year at prices and the different models, we demoed a T23 and A24. We went with the T23 and were able to secure a 2019 build spot for the 2018 price with a boat show discount and end of year discount. I would suggest hitting the boat shows, we got a great deal!

Love it, glad to hear there are others out there boarding way more than surfing!

I've owned both a22 hulls and put about 500 hours on each.

2010-2014 hull:
Wakeboard wake is impossible to mess up. Its not sensitive side to side at all.
It also has a different trans and engine set up
not as good of surf wave

2015 hull
Wakeboard wake is very similar to the older hull just a little more sensitive side to side (not an issue like some boats). I use lead bags in the cabin to clean up the wake.
PCM engine and trans has a lower gear ratio
surf wave is super easy to setup
handles better in chop

I don't know the numbers but just something to consider. You would think the resale value/demand would be higher when selling an Axis with surfgate vs one with no surfgate. So down the road you may wish you had the boat with surf gate when you go to sell it.

We mostly wakeboard but looks like everyone else prefers to surf.

Thanks guys! Decided to go with the 2015. It was a demo boat for Axis so only has 90hs and is fully loaded!
