We bought a T22 with the centre and rear hard tanks only on advice of dealer that we’d be able to surf - no P&P or bow ballast.

As yet we haven’t had enough power in wave (ballast full plus wedge and 3 people in boat) to go without rope.

Have I been advised poorly??

I surfed an A22 demo and my T22 both with stock tanks, no PNP. So to answer your question. It is possible and not the worst wave I've surfed behind but just get the sacs.

The real question is why? Just buy the bags and enjoy a killer wake!

Your dealer lied to you. It's a physics issue, you may "can" surf the wave with stock tanks but you'll be 2ft from the platform on an ocean style longboard. Just do yourself a favor and buy the Wakemakers custom fit bags, connect them to the already existing plug and play hoses in the boat and fill them up. It will make your life much more enjoyable.

I think everyone that has ever bought an axis or Malibu has added bags at some point. You will not be disappointed.

Thanks guys, this is something I need to clarify, and really appreciate the input.

I bought an ex demo T22, never having surfed behind a boat before.
I negotiated a price I was happy with and the dealer said they would have to remove the P&P bags to meet my price (and we wouldn’t need them to surf anyway!!). I asked if they would leave the P&P plumbing so I could easily put in bags later and was told that they would have to remove the P&P plumbing as it would cause problems if left there without bags?
I believed them, but after more research on this forum I think I may have been mislead on many fronts.

I am considering going down the Wakemakers route to reinstall all plumbing myself. The dealers have threatened me losing my warranty if I do this, and want to charge $1700 for them to REinstall.

Taken from dealer email:
“Please note – Be careful if you are fitting aftermarket stuff to your axis that you don’t void any kind of warranties.
Under no circumstances do we recommend anyone that isn’t qualified in this field to fit PNP”
There is a grey area when it comes to PNP as where does the liability lie if something happens.”

Had I known I needed the P&P I would have made sure they stayed and simply negotiated price.

Would people push for a ‘cost price’ reinstallation or ignore their threats and DIY the whole P&P kit with Wakemakers? Bearing in mind that there is only one dealer in the town I live in and they will be doing in warranty servicing for the next 5 years!

Thanks!

They can not void your warranty as it is a factory option just order your own bags, fittings and hoses and diy. Dealer is just trying to force you to pay their labor rate

I can't believe the dealer would take out all the fittings for the PNP. That is a lot of labor to remove all that when he could have just removed the bags. I don't see how that "saved" the dealer any cash. Just my 2 copper.

Did he actually remove the PNP pumps and hoses?
Sorry to hear that.
I hope you get it worked out.

Can someone confirm this for me?
Can you simply unclip and then take the bags out of the rear lockers and leave the P&P tubing free, without issues of leakage. Specifically a recent model Axis with factory P&P?

Yes. All PNP boats ship that way from the factory b/c PNP bags are an "at the dealer" add on (like batteries). There are "dummy plugs" that get plugged into the ends of the PNP plumbing that would otherwise connect to the bag.

I'd be very surprised if your bow ballast pump and plumbing weren't already installed as well.
