Post subject:  2018 a22 vs t22

Hi, I'm new to inboards and have been tossing the idea of buying one. I'm really liking the a22 bow space but also the new design of the t22. One question I was hoping someone could answer: is there more room in the t22 cockpit vs the a22. It appears they have different layouts on the simulator on their website. I saw a few ppl have taken delivery of the new t22. Does anyone know if it will fit in a standard 7ft garage opening. Sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance for any info.

The T22 is a cab forward design so from the windshield back you have more room than the A22. Yes on the 7' clearance, the T22 with tower folded is 6'9" .

Thanks for that info. The local dealer said both are same from windshield back. I don't think he has received in a 2018 t22 yet so he may just not know. I've never heard the term cab forward design. What does that mean? Dealer did say the freeboard is taller on the new t22 than the a22, that's why I was asking about garage clearance. Knowing what you guys know about axis and Malibu both on resale and quality would you buy new axis or a 2 year old Malibu for same price. Say t22 vs Malibu vlx 22. For 70k ish each. My dealer did say Malibu towers don't fold low like axis so clearance will be issue for Malibu and that's why I've been leaning axis but still hard to pass up same price for Malibu.

Can anyone share other differences between these two models? I primarily want to surf first, then wakeboard, then pull peeps on a tube. Any known wake differences between these two '18 models?

I have/had a 2012 A22 when we sat in the newer A22's we actually had to ask if we were in A20 or A22. We demoed a 2018 T22 and it felt bigger inside than the A22. We found with our boat the bow did not get used as much as we thought it would.

We are ordering a T22. We surf 100% of the time and the new Hull makes a difference.

I ordered a 17 t22 last year and while I was looking I originally wanted the a22, but I’m super happy with the t22 as the front bow didn’t get a ton of use and I prefer the bigger cabin space and the 5k savings

Thanks for that info. I'm still wondering why my dealer told me they are exact same from windshield back. Clearly they are not. We surfed behind a 17 t22 over the summer and it was so much fun. Now trying to sell our boat to get one. What is everybody's preferred floor covering. The sea dek looks like it shows everything but heard easy to clean. Is the deckadence floor more desirable. The floor is currently the only option I'm unsure of. Has anyone seen the gunmetal flake in person. Dealer said there was a new silver flake out and I was thinking he said that was it.

They changed up the gunmetal flake a bit for 18, it looks good! I would do that before silver metal flake but I did black metal flake on my build because I love black and white boats [emoji16]

Have you already ordered? Did you find the price getting close to Malibu, I guess depending on the options you selected. I'm going Saturday to spec one out at the dealer. I pretty much want loaded if building. I've seen other posts showing options selected and what to get. I found that very useful. We will surf as well. Did you order the heater. Heater sounds like great option but do you have any real life experiences with it?
