Anyone have any suggestions on what to pick up to do my own oil changes? I have been looking around at a few extractors, but figured you all would have a better idea as to what is best. Thanks!

One of these and hit your local hardware store for a fitting that will thread onto your drain tube.

Makes things a breeze

Hey bud I dropped some knowledge on your partner! ;-)

I have one like vanamp linked and if I were doing it over again, I'd get a mighty vac or go all-in and get the electric jabsco pump/bucket setup (the Cadillac of extractors).

The drill style pumps would not be strong enough. I just used one recently to drain a tank and they are wimpy and very little suction.

Thanks everyone. Got it all taken care of this weekend. Used this extractor https://www.amazon.com/Transfer-Extract ... +extractor

worked like a charm. Just used a home depot 5 gallon paint bucket to catch all of the oil.

Do you know what size fitting you used for this? The boat is 4 hours away, so I just want too make sure I have the right things to winterize

Just wanted to say thanks for the suggestion. I sprung for the jabsco one linked here and it worked very well. I didn't bother threading anything onto the end of the drain hose on the engine, I just ran the clear tube that came with the kit up through the drain hose and sucked everything out that way. I then ran the clear tube down the dipstick hole and got nothing further out of it. It did take about 15 minutes to pump the (warm) oil out, but I had other things to do while it was running. Didn't spill a drop and it was super easy to pour the oil from the bucket into the "new oil" containers once I was done filling the boat.

I had previously bought and tried a mityvac one and I must have had a defective unit because it required me to manually pump the entire time to get anything to suck out (threw it in the garbage). The electric pump was a definite step up.
