I just got back from the lake. It was a great trip, except the last few hours after the rudder fell off while I was 20 miles from the marina. It turns out my boat goes pretty straight at about 12 miles per hour, enough such that you can steer with a paddle from the swimdeck. Quite epic.

At any rate, I also have a squealing belt. This is a 2015 T23 with the PCM 409 with the serpentine belt. It's squealed since I took it off to swap out the impeller. I'm pushing 300 hours on the boat. I've taken it back off and put it back on a couple of times. It doesn't look worn, damaged, dirty, or wet. The boat runs fine (you know, when the rudder is working and all). But I could do without the squeal. It has the autotensioner, so I can't just tighten it up. Should I just replace it, try to clean it, do something else, or have the dealer look at it?

I would just replace it.. take it to an auto parts store and they will get you one that will fit.

Cleaning the belt and all the wheels it runs on with gasoline seems to have done the trick. I wish all my problems with this boat were that easy to quit. I'm really starting to wonder if I should have bought a Malibu instead. Maybe the build quality would have been better. They did warranty out the rudder despite me being out of the warranty period, which was awesome.

Unfortunately, it went to the lake today and now has an engine light coming on intermittently. When it gets up to 4000 rpm (about 26-28 mph) the engine gets back and it drops back down to 19 mph. No codes on the menu. Any idea what is causing that?

You need to have ur pcm updated at the dealership. It is a common problem. Just dropped mine off today to get done.

No, this problem turned out to be fixed by replacing the fuel pump. Again. I'm on my third one now in 300 hours.
