My bilage pump does work but it should come on automatically but does not. It will work when I manually switch it on so I have a few questions.

Is this separate pumps manual vs automatic? Float switch?

If same pump I should be able to test the switch correct? How to test with voltmeter?

Pump itself?

I have the same issue on both of my bilge pumps. No auto but manual works fine. I don't see a float on the pump so I assume it has an auto sense feature or something?

what makes you think its not working on auto? I might be in the same boat (pun intended) ... usually when I surf after about an hour id say the auto bilge light comes on when I'm in motion and the boat is like / (not that bad but you get the point). no water ever comes out , and once I stop the light goes off. its not consistent and there isn't ever enough water in the hull to make it come on is this what you experience?

My auto never comes on. I noticed this summer even when I turn it on, no water comes out but theres not much water in the bilge.
'
How deep does the water need to be to get the automatic to kick on?
How deep does the water need to be to get the pump to actually pump water?

Just curious if my pump is working or if I don't have enough water to actually pump.

My auto bilge comes on when surfing & the bow is high. I have checked & there is no water in the boat. There is another thread started a few days ago about this.

I think that thread is the opposite problem...

It is in another thread. I took mine to get a ballast pump issue taken care of(fuse, I did not feel like disconnecting a lot of stuff since it's under warranty) and the mechanic there is having the same issue on his 17 A20. I suggested that if we turn the bilge pump(like the previous post) then the float won't move as much, since it's on a hinge.

Going to the lake for a long weekend. I will let you know if that annoying alarm for the bilge stops, along with my dealer.

There is a knob on the side of the bilge pump that allows you to actuate the float (which is inside of the pump) and test the auto-function.

Orientation of the pump can absolutely affect the float's ability to actuate correctly.

Also, a lot of boats sit a little front-heavy. So not much water makes its way to the back of the boat until it's tipped up pretty far.

My theory is this... when in motion water is at the rub rail at the back of the boat and sometimes water splashes into the port for the bilge, once enough water flows down the tube and hits the pump it triggers the auto bilge ..... now I have no idea if the pump is actually coming on or not cause its just the wife and I but since I know there isn't an issue I just ignore it. does anyone know if the intake for the bilge is a hose or if its some type of grille on the pump itself?
