I've read a lot of post about weighting and wedge vs no wedge but curious what speed you all are running?.

I'm trying to lengthen out our wave. Our set up is all hard tanks, 650 bow under seats, 650 bow on seats, 650 in walkway, 900s rear. When we add wedge it gets taller and shorter.

Side Note: Besides speed, any other adjustments? We could change the bow bag to a 1000 Ronix but not sure how well it fits and would fill on top of seats. Should we increase 650 walkway weight?

I'm at 10.8 to 11 mph. You run more in the bow than me and my wave is long yours should be also.
Hard Tanks
1100's
Bow Sac under seats
150 lbs lead nose
500lbs walkway
400 lbs rear cabin floor
No Wedge Image

I surf at 11.6. I use the wedge, 750's Rear, Bow Sac not really sure how much that fits but it fills the compartment. I also have 680#'s of steel. I keep 80#'s behind the each rear sack. 120# behind the driver seat, 80# in the nose in front of the sack 40# in each corner behind it and 40# in the center behind it. Then the remaining 240# in front of the observer seat by the amps as far forward as I can just behind the bow sack.

Some of my friends prefer 11.2-11.4, I prefer 11.6 for the nice long pocket.

I'm at about 250 hours in my 2015 T23. A great deal of that has been spent surfing. Here's what I've learned.

To make wake/wave longer, do the following:
1) Speed up
2) Higher front weight to back weight ratio (i.e. find the fattest guy on the back row and make him sit on the bow)

To give it more push make it taller, do the following:
1) Slow down
2) Move weight back

The goal is to have a clean wave. The way you do that is reaching a certain speed for the amount of weight on board. The more weight, the faster you must go in order to keep the wake clean with that amount of weight.

I run the wedge, 900s in the back, 650 in the front, 200 steel in the bow and however many people I have moved mostly as far forward as I can talk them into sitting and usually set the cruise at 11.8. The boat struggles a bit as I run at altitude , but that wave isn't clean below about 11.2 and I like the wave best at 11.6-11.8. At 12+, it seems to lose too much push for my preference (but does get longer.) Plus, I have to take a fair bit of weight out to get to 12+. At <11 mph, my wave usually isn't clean.

YMMV. I boat at much higher altitudes than most on this board (usually 7000-8000 feet and never under 3600 feet.) You can get more weight up to an even higher speed at a lower altitude, but that pretty much maxes out my poor old 409.

BTW- I think the goofy side wave is significantly better than the regular side. Good reason to learn to ride goofy too. Now if I could just figure out how to switch sides without the rope....

Here is my set up:
650lb Bow bag with 150lb steel shot up front.
750lb rear sacks
Wedge down
11.4 mph

Anything slower then 11.4 the wave is not real clean. When I speed up I find I lose surfers to easily and spend too much time circling around. With the wedge down I like at least one larger body up front. At that speed I also find I can ride fairly far back on the wave and still recover.

I rode behind a 2014 G25 Nautique last weekend. The Axis T23 wave is better!

I FINALLY got a transfer on the T22. I tried a bunch last year and couldn't get it at all. Then went out with some friends to TMC and they were all hitting them (both ways too!). I'd always blamed it on not having the SG horn (I found them to be not that difficult on my prior boat, a '14 lsv that had the horn). But the 17 LSV we were on didn't have the horn enabled, and these guys were still hitting the transfers.

How? They were staring at the surfside gate and would go when it started to move. Genius!

The other standard advice is to basically charge the swimdeck when you go, because no matter how hard you charge the transfer it's going to put you back farther on the wave than you think.

And then when riding backside, to square your body up to the boat (I think "front shoulder to opposite side of transom" in my head).

LOL this is not expert advice.... I have a grand total of ONE transfer under my belt behind an axis.
