Yeah only way is to do gate in service mode or recalibrate with a meter

Do you know if it is a reverse polarity type actuator? Charge goes one way, it extends. Charge goes the other way it retracts. It appears there is only a positive and negative.

I wonder why Malibu decides to do inventory and shut down during the summer? Seems like they'd have a lot more happy customers if they did that during the winter.

They always do it this time of year. I am not defending them and I think it is stupid as well. They basically switch from building this year's model to building next year's model during this down time. They also give their employees a chance to enjoy the 4th of July off. I have a feeling some employees will be working though. They are hosting a wake event on July 8th outside of their facility on the river.

Most actuators are threaded internally so if you unbolt it you can spin them back in unless something broke and put it in a bind

Thanks for the tip. I did this action this morning and got the gate in now. It will get us out on the water till I can get a new one in. The bad part is I won't be able to get a replacement till July 11th. Apparently Malibu is shutdown for inventory and vacation till then.

So did you just unbolt the piston from the surfgate and spin it back in then reattach it?

Yep. If you carry a small tool box with you, you should be able to do this on the lake. Make sure your tool box has some Allen wrenches and an adjustable wrench.

Thanks, that's great info to have to save a day on the lake. Hopefully it doesn't happen but nice to be prepared.

I took the boat out today for some wakeboarding. The only issue we had was the surfgate came out about 2" from fully retracted while riding. It didn't affect the wake and we ignored the alarm on the dash.

I cleaned up the fuse and it worked again!

First I screwed the actuator back in so we could more easily play and attempt to troubleshoot, but in the end it was the fuse holder and fuse needed cleaning. The rubber cap had come off and water was draining from the sud deck down on the fuse holder. The hard water here built up a scale that prevented operation.

Fuse was very hard to reach/find, but easy to fix.
