Does anyone know what is the overall height of the tower while on the trailer. I'm renting a dry storage for my new boat during the winter and don't want to drop the tower. They have 10' tall and 12' tall doors. Thanks.

If you don't mind me asking how much would something like that cost? We're looking at buying a house that has a 7' door but 9' ceiling so we're going to raise the door to 8' so I can at least put it in with the tower down.

Thanks

I'm good friends with "Alexander", I believe he just cut the header and raised it 4". Took him I believe about 2-1/2 to 3hrs total by himself. Now he has a detached garage so it's basically cutting the entire garage and jacking it up then filling the gap with a 4ft wall lol. He's a an engineer so he's got this.

I would need to see the garage BrettLee. It could be easy or complicated. But, there no way you will be able to cut an entire foot out of the existing header to get to 8'. You would need to replace the header with a larger LVL or steel beam. This will require bracing or jacks by someone experienced and a little modification to the existing framing (beefing up the king studs and cripples).

If you just need a few inches, you can do what AJ referenced I did; but your finished elevation on the garage door will probably not look good with the façade of the house... which is fine if you are redneck like me. I just got a piece of white sheet metal molded into a C-channel and that's how I filled the gap. But if you have a brick finish, this will cause problems due to the lintel (brick ledge); it will be in the way.

So.. long story short... no brick and a few inches is probably very cheap. Brick will not be cheap either way (unless you do it yourself). 8' and brick will be expensive.

I have a 2012 A22 and with tower down have no problems getting into 7' garage door. Just make sure mirror is down.
