Anybody ever ran out of fuel?

I thought I was about to. We had been wakeboarding and surfing all day, and we were really far from the dock. The gauge was reading completely empty. I stayed on plane for most of the way back trying to conserve fuel. I thought I felt the engine starting to sputter and I knew this was it. Luckily we were very close by then and I idled back to the dock from there.

So after I filled it up, it only took 37 gallons??? I'm supposed to have a 42 gallon tank. (14' T22)

So did I really still have 5 gallons left in the tank? Are fuel gauges purposely set to show empty early on for people like me? lol

Mine will show empty and only take 55-60 gallons of gas (70 gallon tank )

My 2010 shows empty with 7-9 gallons left, 48 gallon tank

Yea it is nice but I would not mind even bigger...

2 times, and not sure how ... it showed empty, ran for a while while going slow. Got back to the dock, turned it off, grabbed the trailer and it wouldn't start. Pushed it on ... 2014 T22 is 46 gallons I believe and it would only take 32 ... similar thing happened once more, only took 31 gallons ... it'll show completely empty. My dealer serviced it once, and put in 5 gallons because it was only reading 1/4 full ... something they know we don't ... my guess is Axis won't let it run empty, not a bad idea, just sucks it has so large a reserve and it won't be ever be usable.

I had a similar situation with my 15 T22. Ran empty across lake back to dock. Later tried to start and it would crank but not start. I thought something was wrong but when I put gas in, started right up. It took 35 gallons w/ 46 tank, seemed odd to me but I like knowing I can get back to the house when it's on empty.

my gauge shows high. Mine stays full for a long time, once it is showing 1/2 full I only have 20 gallons (of a 46 gallon tank). I have had mine show completely empty and put 43 gallons in it, so when I show empty, I'm empty.

I had "THE TOW OF SHAME" a week after getting my boat. 2015 T22
last bar was showing, headed back to dock, then no bar, then bam! dead in the water.
Weird thing is it only took 39 gallons so three are hiding away from the pickup.

Twice now I've had it empty enough that it wouldn't start until I put gas in. Both times the boat remained running long enough to load it onto the trailer so it hasn't ever actually ran out of gas while running.
