Looking for some advice. I am getting a 2015 Axis A22 and looking to weight it down with 2 x 1100lb sacs in the rear and 950lb in the bow.. I am 99% of the time only going to use the boat for wakesurfing (not boarding or ski, so not concerned about top speed), so does anyone have any thoughts on:

1. Will the standard 350HP engine be good enough or do I REALLY need to upgrade to the 410HP? Its an extra $4k so would rather not if its not needed.

2. Will the standard prop that comes with the 2015 axis A22 do or should I get like the ACME 2315? If I should get the ACEM 2315 what are its advantages over the standard prop?

Appreciate any advice.

This is just my opinion, I think the 350 will he fine. The limiting factor with surf gate is the surf gates themselves. You ballast setup will be fine to produce a great wave. Let us know how the 1100's run in the boat. I have only seen 800lb ronix bags in the rear amd the surf wake looked great.

If the 1100s are the regular rectangular bags they wont fill to capacity in the rear compartments. We run about 4000 lbs in water and human ballast evenly distributed and the 350 does fine at surf speeds. The 6.0 has benefits over the 5.7 for getting that weight to wakeboard speeds but not for surf speeds.

1100 won't fill up all the way and even when filled to capacity outside of the boat they weigh less than 1100. Sumo 900's will fit and they hold right at 1000lbs. Are Fly-High sacks still 3/4" inside diameter at the fitting? If so, then Sumo is the way to go with 1" fittings to make the most out of the 1-1/8" lines and reduce fill/drain times.

if you are at any elevation and plan on running the wedge, Id think hard about upgrading the engine.
AJ - its crazy how fast the larger hoses fill. I was very surprised... seems like it takes half the time. Id go with the Sumo's too.

I was amazed at the 1-1/8"ones fill times and the addition of the 2nd drain line was a big winner. Huge, night and day improvement between my 2011 to my 2014. Makes the old ballast system in the Axis with smaller lines and single drain look stupid.

I thought we proved the difference between Straightline and Flyhigh was not enough to make a difference. I measure both inserts and they were almost the same size.

"Almost the same size" implies one is larger than the other still. Until someone fills a Fly-High 750 which holds approx 720 and a Sumo 750 which holds approx 800 at the same time with the same pump...I'm going with Sumo. Even then, the Sumo will still hold 80lbs more. So if someone is running two Sumo 750's they are actually getting 1600lbs whereas the two Fly-High 750's are getting you 1440...that's 160lb difference. Not that the original question is about 750's but it's the most common sack used.
