so the hose connected to the drain plug on the oil pan, isnt long enough to exit the back of the boat though the plug hole?!? Guess its time to drop some more money on a pump to suck it out of the dipstick tube...unless you have another option?

Option A) replace the hose
Option B) Suck out of the drainstick AND the hose (you will get about another quart or so).

Doesn't make any sense does it!? Agreed wtf

Are you sure its not wrapped around your raw water pick up hose? If the drain hose is clipped to the motor lift point, you should have plant of slack to feed it throughout the hull drain hole. My hose can come out the drain hull and all the way to the ground. I bet the hose is getting caught on something under the engine. BTW that would be an indmar issue, not axis.

Mine is also too short. If I have it perfectly straight it will just barely exit the transom.

So, what can you do with the used oil? My oil change places will not accept used oil from consumers

Autozone, Oreillys, or any other big box parts store accepts used oil

your not alone... i have worked on my own boats for over 20 years and done countless oil changes and motor swaps etc all on my own.... I literally spent over 4 hours changing the oil on my 2014 axis bc the damn oil filter was on WAY too tight from the factory. Not to mention the same problem you have with the oil hose being barely long enough to reach the drain plug (still oozed out onto the floor..grrrrr)
After breaking two wrenches I opted to remove the entire remote oil housing and put it on a vise to remove the crumpled filter.
What a pain in the a$$
axis/indmar is going to get an earful. Apparently every new 2014 boat with indmar had the oil filter on super tight

Yep! Took me 4 hours three broken wrenches and a screwdriver to get my oil filter off. Ended up taking the whole mount right off and putting into a vise like stated above. I drained my oil with a suction/anti syphon pump and worked great. i didn't even move the hose from where it was.
