Well, I have one, and it's not that bad. I never once got hurt, sore, or tired of playing on mine. It's a great, super fun toy to ride with the lake is to busy to wakeboard. Like all water sports, it's as intense as you want it to be. If you buy one it will come with different foils to make your ride aggressive to pop out of the water, of you can put the beginner foil on, to just ride all over, and not have the feel of that baby wanting to fly.

The tricks takes a lot.......a lot.......let me say that again.....a lot of time to just figure out, much more to just land one and keep riding it. But I never once hurt my self. maybe hurt my pride at times, and drank some water, but keep it slow, arms extending and raised up about holders height, not wanting to come up out of the water yet. And also you want the strap tight, and the seat at your butt bones, and not at thighs. You will use your arm/hand hight, and butt/feet to go up and down.

It's and expensive toy, but one that will be as exciting as a race car, or as smooth as a old mans Cadillac.

Good luck!!

Yes I need to try too. I can't believe its as difficult as described earlier.

its not easy, it uses different mechanics for control and if you think about it your only connection to the water is a thin metal fin, so the chance of error is greater then say a wakeboard or a ski with a bigger contact point. My wife did better then me at first because she didn't try as hard and then once I relaxed and stopped trying I got better. keep in mine the furthest either one of us got was maybe 30yrds. I would always start going in one direction and when I tried to stop it would just make me go harder in the same direction. they said I was turning the wrong part of my body. its not controlled the same way a wakeboard is

we ride one once in a while, once you find your balance they are actually pretty much effortless to ride. tricks are a different story. lean back hard to start and once you pop up out of the water start leaning ahead right away

rough was right once you figure out balance and how to control your movements (opposite move left to go right ) they are easy .... once you can get the ski (big red part ) off the water the ride is soooooo smooth its crazy

My problem was the falls. When learning I'd always start heading left or right unintentionally. I'd over-correct and then pop out of the water and slap onto my side. My knees would bang together and I had little control of my impact. Would try again for sure though, just didn't have it long enough for it to be fun.

Setup is everything. I first learned on a ski that I would consider unresponsive now. You can loosen the rear wing and put a dime under the rear edge of the rear wing and then tighten down the bolts. That will force the front wing down and stop it from bucking so easily. Once you learn to taxi around and you want to jump, you can remove the dime and see how little effort it takes to make one of them fly. Over correcting is a huge new rider problem because you don't have to do much before you feel like a bull rider. That might be fun for 8 seconds, but you plan on riding for longer than that.

Jeff lowe (I think 3rd in country for hydrofoils) told us to get twisty things from lowes ( big twist ties) and put them on the t-bar until we get control. the drag mellows it out a bit
